October 1, 2020 – Mesa, AZ – United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY) is pleased to announce the reinstatement of eight members of the National UNITY Council’s (NUC) Executive Committee. Those who chose to apply, met the criteria and submitted their applications per the deadline are as follows:
Robert Scottie Miller, Swinomish, Male Co-President
Elijah Landin, Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation, Great Plains Region Representative
William Mosley, Naticoke Lenni-Lenape, Northeast Region Representative
Izaiah Fisher, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Northwest Region Representative
Kristen Butcher, Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, Pacific Region Representative
Kaiden McGee, Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Southeast Region Representative
Colby Whitethunder, Alabama-Coushatta, Southern Plains Region Representative
Kiera Toya, Jemez Pueblo, Southwestern Region Representative
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, over the summer, the National UNITY Conference moved to a free, online virtual format. The UNITY organization decided to forego elections for the NUC co-presidents and regional representatives, and allowed each representative to apply for reinstatement.
“We sincerely congratulate the youth leaders who have been reinstated and we look forward to working with everyone to further UNITY’s mission,” said Mary Kim Titla, UNITY’s Executive Director. “To Brittany McKane, Anthony Tamez, ArriAnna Matt and Tyloria Antone, it was truly a pleasure to see you all in action over the last year. Thank you for investing so much of your time and talents to important youth causes.”
“All of the Executive Committee members’ hard work paid off during the last term and we hope to continue that success in serving the youth during the next year,” said Robert Scottie Miller, NUC Male Co-President.
Vacant positions include Female Co-President, Midwest Region Representative, Rocky Mountain Region Representative and Western Region Representative. Per the NUC constitution and bylaws, the vacancies may be filled by the current members of the NUC Executive Committee.
